Temporary Capital Museum

This building was used as the Gyeongsangnam-do provincial governor’s official residence after it was built in 1926. While Busan was Korea’s provisional capital during the Korean War (1950-1953), the building was used as the president’s residence. When Gyeongsangnam-do provincial government moved to Changwon in 1983, Busan Metropolitan City purchased the building. In 1984, the building became the Provisional Capital Memorial Hall exhibiting various pictures of the Korean War. The building was renovated into the current Provisional Capital Memorial Hall through building restoration work and exhibition room decoration work from 2000. There was made some reinforcement work supplement exhibition materials and remodeling some part of exhibition room from 2008 to 2009. Behind the Provisional Capital Memorial Hall, there is located a theatre. It was used as the residence of the high public prosecutor in chief, but was changed to a space to show the films of the provisional capital times.
In the presidential residents (Busan Gyeongmudae), Mr. and Mrs. President Lee Seung-man and the secretaries used to reside and carry out duties, and received major national guests during the Korean War. The Provisional Capital Memorial Hall intended to preserve the floor layout and atmosphere at the time of the presidential residence. On the first floor, there are 8 rooms including a reception room, a library, a bedroom, a living room, a kitchen, the room of testimony and the room of thought, thereby reproducing the provisional capital times. The 2nd floor includes the exhibition room and the recollection room. In the recollection room, there are performed films related to Provisional Capital Busan while the exhibition room display the relics related to the Korean War and the keepsakes of President Lee Seung-man.

The Busan Provisional Capital Government Hall

During the colonial of Japanese war period in the South Korea, the Provisional Capital Government Hall, formerly Gyeongsamnam-do. After the Busan District Prosecution Office and Busan Police Department and so on, was used by Korean modern history, social and politics. Busan is the only port and gateway for the transportation and was the center of industry, education, culture, facilities development. The Gyeongnamdo office Jenju transferred to Busan.
The Gyeongnam party (Now Seogu Bumin 2 Ga) there was a Charity Hospital as to provisional office with an area of 8,736 Pyeong as the site selected by Gyeongnam-do Government. The construction began in 1925 until April 25, 1925.
April 25, 1925, the current Gyeongsangnam-do District office work begun. As the provincial government of Gyeongsamnam-do was move to Changwon. September 28, Seoul recovered after the lost of their number one (1) territory. October 27, Seoul until return the first Temporary Capital. The main building was by the counselor's and national assembly office party. At the back of it was the police military joined operation to watch at night and also presidential residence was used. In 1945, the liberation of the U.S. troops was stop the Korean war in Busan . Year 1951, the air force intervention 1.4 Ho again in Busan as the provisional capital. In 1953 July 27, military cease fire agreement was held as the first Provisional Capital until (August 15) as the exact time was used. July 1983, Gyeongnam-do Provisional office moved to Changwon. Until 58, years and 3 months ago, used this building. And after the Busan Prosecutor's Office used it. The police department and the Judicial Department in Kojedong, sold to Dong-A University in 2002.
In the second floor (2F) the red building, the Seogu Renaissance, a western style was transformed. A strong front on the right and left symmetrical level was transformed, and both sides finishing compared first and appraised as the beautiful building completed. Therefore it was the first building intense in 1960. Remodeling this building reduce the level of days work become different.
In 2002, the National Registration And Culture designated and transformed the removal part was restored. The former Gyeongnam, Governor Official Provisional President Hall together our region was left representation in modern construction exploited in the middle era of the Japanese conquered the Korean people. The Korean war provisional was role a long with our country situation still suffered from the pain history was restored in the Historical building. The architectural history value was in cultural properties.
