Cancer! An Illness We Can Overcome

Case 1) Mr. Hong Gildong, 50 years old avails a free a free medical checkup from the National Health Insurance Corporation every two years. Since the time he received a notice for the medical checkup, he immediately cut off his smoking habit. Though he did not show the symptoms, the medical result showed that he had gastric cancer on its early stage. Because the cancer was discovered earlier, Mr. Hong Gildong, underwent an early treatment and had endoscope operation. (Case 2) Mr. Kim Min Guk is 50 years old who operates a small restaurant. Since his business did not go well he started to smoke more than a pack of cigarette everyday. He even took for granted the notice sent by the National Health Insurance Corporation for the medical examination. Recently, Mr. Kim is continuously taking the medicine but the doctor said his cancer has advanced. For those who are reading this article, how does the two cases related? The National Statistic office announced that last year(2009) that there were 16 people who died of cancer in Busan which is the highest rate ever. The scary cancer can be prevented. One-third of which is thru a healthy lifestyle and the other one-third is to have an early diagnosis. Smoking is known to cause 20% of cancer cases. It is known that there is a 30% decrease of mortality if smoking is stopped. Cancer is getting higher yet early screening is difficult, hence treatment is also difficult and survival rate will be very low. Above all many people did not give importance to stop smoking. Korea has many cases of gastric cancer, stomach cancer, liver cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer and cervical cancer which is affecting our nation. There is support for the medical checkup and medication yet many people are afraid to know the truth and become reluctant to get the test. As the person grows older he is likely to develop cancer so it is advised all elderly must take the early screening test. Cancer is not an expensive disease to treat but an illness that can be overcome. The disease can overcome thru a non-smoking and healthy living practices, and receiving regular check-ups early enough to overcome the possible disease.

Baduk! Good for brain development and improves concentration!

The Nambumin 2 Dong Community Service Center offered special classes on Baduk for one month on January, 2010 in it small library as a winter vacation program for the local children residing in the community. The residents thought that one month is too short for the program so the office extended the program starting from mid February. The program received a positive evaluation from the residents. For children, it helped improve their concentration and brain development and helped in their academic ability. For people who play baduk in their leisure time, it is effective for the prevention of dementia so more and more students are coming to this special class. Looking at the age group, from elementary school students to the senior citizens class who are attending the classes together, we can see the intergenerational relationships broaden and reduce the age gap and serves as a model of traditional Monarch Village pump rooms in the country many years ago. Baduk is a game between two players putting the black and white stones on the board. The goal to completely occupy the house is fun. It is a representative board game of the East especially China, Korea, Taiwan, Japan and gaining popularity to other Southeast Asian countries. The world competition held in various organization was being championed by mainly Korea, China, Japan. After 1990 Korea excelled in the game has changed its image. Baduk game classes in recent years is increasing and helps the concentration of the children to correct their behavior and lifestyle. The effects of the program solicited a high positive response from the parents.
Mrs. Jeong Jeong-Rye (Nambumin 2 Dong, 63 years old), a participant in this program commented that in the past she wanted to learn but the game seemed just for man. But now, she thought she has now the chance to learn the basics step by step. She did not even noticed the time passed because it was so interesting. In the future, we are looking forward to seeing grandmothers, grandfathers and young grandchildren playing together. Baduk game classes is every Saturday 2:00-4:00pm at Nambumin 2 Dong small-library.

Low Income Brackets Receives Self Sufficiency Fund Support
A self sufficient fund support will be given to the indigent families, single parent families, physically challenged and low income residents. The support will be based on their yearly income and properties. All applicants should visit their local community service centers and fill-up the designated application forms and submit a copy of residents registration form. The recipient of the said loan will be decided after a thorough review of the income and properties. The applicants should submit their applications for deliberation and approval. The City government of Busan will take responsibility to promoting policies to encourage childbirth in the city by taking care of the expenses from birth to education fee from second birth up. To support this policy the City released a budget of 100 billion won to fund the new policy. Second birth children born from January 1, 2010 will receive education fee support for the preschool, nursery including kindergarten. The third child born from January 1, 2010 will receive preschool benefits until high school. Also the third child is entitled for free meals and tuition fees plus school stipend and other expenses related to schooling. The government also promised to support by providing college entrance fee. (Social Service, Division 240-4352)

The Story of Bolregil Songdo Coastal Roads
From March 2010, the Seo-gu Office with the Greenway course, explained to the citizens and together heard the Songdo history as they started to walk through the Bolregil. The Songdo seaside Bolregil started in Hyeon-In Public Plaza, going to the Songdo seaside stroll way, around the Amnam Park, you can go through the 7km leading trails.
The story of Songdo Bolregil explained, that long time ago, the Songdo seaside had lots of Pine trees, which the name is derived as to the introduction on it. The Songdo seaside Bolregil started with the famous singer Hyeon-In and a friend as they walk in the moonlight, as the result of a childhood memories in him and the remembrance of a secret story. And one way with a lenght of 800m iron-decked elevated bridge which connected the Songdo seaside stroll way, and the surrounding Amnam Park which, before 100 million years ago, wild animals and plants, the stratum soil and the nature around can be studied together with the children. Recently, estimated before 80 billion years ago Dinosaur's egg, footprints, plants found the stacks of historical value. Recently, need re-evaluation of Dudo, a view from the observatory that can look.
